Metaphysical Bible Interpretation of Micah Chapter 4
Metaphysically Interpreting Micah 4:1-5
4:1But in the latter days it shall come to pass,
that the mountain of Jehovah's house
shall be established on the top of the mountains,
and it shall be exalted above the hills;
and peoples shall flow unto it.
4:2And many nations shall go and say,
Come ye, and let us go up to the mountain of Jehovah,
and to the house of the God of Jacob;
and he will teach us of his ways,
and we will walk in his paths.
For out of Zion shall go forth the law,
and the word of Jehovah from Jerusalem;
4:3and he will judge between many peoples,
and will decide concerning strong nations afar off:
and they shall beat their swords into plowshares,
and their spears into pruning-hooks;
nation shall not lift up sword against nation,
neither shall they learn war any more.
4:4But they shall sit every man under his vine and under his fig-tree;
and none shall make them afraid:
for the mouth of Jehovah of hosts hath spoken it.4:5For all the peoples walk
every one in the name of his god;
and we will walk in the name of Jehovah our God
for ever and ever.
Metaphysically Interpreting Micah 4:6-13
4:6In that day, saith Jehovah,
will I assemble that which is lame,
and I will gather that which is driven away,
and that which I have afflicted;
4:7and I will make that which was lame a remnant,
and that which was cast far off a strong nation:
and Jehovah will reign over them in mount Zion
from henceforth even for ever.4:8And thou, O tower of the flock,
the hill of the daughter of Zion,
unto thee shall it come,
yea, the former dominion shall come,
the kingdom of the daughter of Jerusalem.4:9Now why dost thou cry out aloud?
Is there no king in thee,
is thy counsellor perished,
that pangs have taken hold of thee as of a woman in travail?
4:10Be in pain, and labor to bring forth, O daughter of Zion,
like a woman in travail;
for now shalt thou go forth out of the city,
and shalt dwell in the field,
and shalt come even unto Babylon:
there shalt thou be rescued;
there will Jehovah redeem thee
from the hand of thine enemies.4:11And now many nations
are assembled against thee,
that say, Let her be defiled,
and let our eye see our desire upon Zion.
4:12But they know not
the thoughts of Jehovah,
neither understand they his counsel;
for he hath gathered them as the sheaves to the threshing-floor.
4:13Arise and thresh,
O daughter of Zion;
for I will make thy horn iron,
and I will make thy hoofs brass;
and thou shalt beat in pieces many peoples:
and I will devote their gain unto Jehovah,
and their substance unto the Lord of the whole earth.

Every follower of Jesus Christ believes in the possibility of universal peace and works for its establishment in the earth. That it will come no sane man can doubt. Peace or bankruptcy for many European nations is inevitable. The advocates of more extensive armament are working their own destruction. The people want peace and they are going to have it. The evolution of the race out of barbarism into civilization demands it, and the Divine Law promulgated by Jesus Christ will be fulfilled.
War will continue so long as religious teachers and secular leaders cultivate the destructive thoughts in their own characters. Peace will be established by people who love peace and have cultivated its qualities in themselves until they no longer desire to destroy their fellow men. Warring thoughts are from the ignorant animal nature. When the spiritual nature is exercised war will cease This is the symbolical teaching of Micah in this lesson.
The "Lord's house" here referred to is the body. "Ye are the temple of the living God." The "mountains" are the higher brain centers, and the "top of the mountains" is the spiritual brain in the very apex of the cranium. When men cultivate spiritual thoughts this top brain is "exalted above the hills," and the whole consciousness or "peoples" shall flow unto it. When this spiritual center is quickened it sends out a far-reaching thought energy and the whole race consciousness is lifted up. This is represented as "many nations" going "up to the mountain of Jehovah.”
When the spiritual consciousness is cultivated until it rules the man a new ego is born, referred to in verse 5 as "he." This is Christ, the Son of God. Righteous judgment will be the rule in the exercise of every faculty and power of the man when Christ rules. Destructive thoughts (swords) shall be transformed into instruments of body culture (plowshares), and the sharp, penetrating thoughts of cruelty (spears) shall be turned into helpful ways. The thought aggregations in the body shall not antagonize one another, neither shall there be any further cultivation of the warring spirit.
The foundation of war is fear that one's possessions will be taken away. When the higher consciousness comes into expression this fear of loss of property will no longer exist (verse 4). The Scriptures teach that it is the feminine or soul principle in man that leads him to sin. It was Eve who first ate the forbidden fruit. This "daughter of Zion" is to be restored to her high estate and reign in the mount for ever, when man attains that permanent place of peace in his own inner consciousness. Jerusalem is the heart center, where the feminine or affectional nature has its kingdom. To this realm shall be restored the harmonious dominion of the Divine Feminine, "the daughter of Jerusalem."

What is the mountain of Jehovah's house, referred to in Micah 4:1? Jehovah's house is the body. "We are a temple of the living God." The "mountains" are the higher brain centers, and the "top of the mountains" is the spiritual brain in the very apex of the cranium. When men cultivate spiritual thoughts this top brain is "exalted above the hills" and the whole consciousness of "peoples" shall flow to it. When this spiritual center is quickened it sends out a far-reaching thought energy and the whole race consciousness is lifted up. This is represented as "many nations" going "up to the mountain of Jehovah.”
Explain the metaphysical meaning of Verse 3. When the spiritual consciousness is cultivated until it rules the man, a new ego is born; this ego is referred to as "he." It is Christ, the Son of God. Righteous judgment will be the rule in the exercise of every faculty and power of the man when Christ reigns. Destructive thoughts (swords) shall be transformed into instruments of body culture (plowshares), and the sharp, penetrating thoughts of cruelty (spears) shall be turned into helpful thoughts. The thought aggregations in body shall not antagonize one another, neither shall there be any further cultivation of the warring spirit.

What is represented metaphysically by the division the children of Israel into two kingdoms? The division of the children of Israel into two kingdoms represents the division which has taken place between the higher and the lower principles in man. Broadly speaking, these two kingdoms are the spiritual and the material, the objective and the subjective, the son of God and the son of man.
Have these two kingdoms been reconciled? No. The reconciliation was begun by Jesus Christ who in his own person united the Son of God and the son of man. Through him we all have the privilege of reconciliation with Divine Mind.
Why do we all have to accept the reconciliation or atonement of Jesus Christ? We all have to accept Jesus Christ as the mediator between man and God because, since we have wandered so far away from the understanding of the spiritual law, it is necessary that we have the way pointed out and the law of righteousness demonstrated before we can know and use the law.
The devotional reading, from the prophet Micah, as a picture of peace. How is peace to be established on the earth? Warring thoughts are from the ignorant, animal nature. When the spiritual man is unfolded in consciousness, and the understanding is established that in Spirit there is inexhaustible supple of every good thing, selfishness will disappear, and with it ambition and strife for the possession of material things, which are the primal causes of war.
What is the metaphysical meaning of the establishment of Jehovah’s house on the top of the mountain? Jehovah's house is the body. "We are a temple of the living God." The "mountains" are the higher brain centers, and the "top of the mountains" is the spiritual brain in the very apex of the cranium. When men cultivate spiritual thoughts this top brain is "exalted above the hills" and the whole consciousness of "peoples" shall flow to it.
When we have formed a consciousness of the reality of Spirit in us, what follows? “He [Christ] will teach us of his ways, and we will walk in his paths.”
What is the meaning of, “For out of Zion shall go forth the law, and the word of Jehovah from Jerusalem”? Zion means “the holy city”. Zion was a fortified rock in Jerusalem. It symbolizes the faith center in the top brain, called the pineal gland. From this center go forth the spiritual law and the word. Jesus said to Peter: “… thou art Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church.” He also said to him, “I will give unto thee the keys of the kingdom of heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt bind on earth shall be bound in heaven; and whatsoever shalt loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven,” indicating the binding and losing power of the word expressed through faith.
When faith in God is established in man, what will be his opinion of war? The judgment of God will be the standard “between many peoples,” and “… will decide concerning strong nations afar off: and they shall beat their swords into plowshares, and their spears into pruning hooks; nation shall not lift up sword against nation, neither shall they learn war any more.”
April 21, 1940: Micah 4:1-5
Interpret the words, “in the latter days” in the first verse of this lesson. This expression refers to a time when the race will have reached a high degree of spiritual consciousness. It does not necessarily refer to the end of the age but suggests that a long period of time may be necessary for the spiritual evolution of the race.
What thought does the term “the mountain of Jehovah’s house” convey? This was the Temple mountain, Mount Moriah, meaning “fortress of the Lord. A mountain represents exaltation or a high state of spiritual realization. The spiritually evolved man will have a body that is in keeping with the enlightened state of his mind and soul.
Why is it stated that “peoples shall flow unto it”? The exalted consciousness of Truth is not to be the gift of any one man or class of men, but the whole race is to be characterized by it.
In view of the fact that the whole race is included in the foregoing statement, why does the next verse suggest that “many nations” may go up to the “mountain of Jehovah, and to the house of the God of Jacob”? This verse shows that a universal peace consciousness will be the result of concerted effort and study on the part of all people working toward that definite end. Peace will not come random or without effort.
What state of society is understood in which nation “shall not life up sword against nation, neither shall they learn war any more”? This prophecy foresees a time when nations will have outgrown the military spirit and discarded it as definitely as the present age has left the Stone Age behind. Not even reminders of the military spirit will remain. All implements of war will be transformed into the tools of peace.
What will be the effect of universal peace? Individual security will follow directly. “Every man under his vine and under his fig-tree; and none shall make them afraid.” Fear is to be eliminated also.
How do we “walk in the name of Jehovah our God”? Our walk is the way in which we order our thoughts and our conduct in accord with the dictates of the I AM (Jehovah our God).
November 14, 1948: Micah 4:1-4
What will be the effect of concerted action in the cause of right and justice? The millennium will be ushered in without further delay. This event awaits only man's awakening to the possibility of its accomplishment and the realization that his is the task of bringing it about.
What is the "burden" of the prophet? To bring his hearers to a realization of the truth that to know peace and happiness they must live in harmony with the law that insures their wellbeing. He points out the penalty of living contrary to this law. The foretelling of future events is only an incidental part of the prophet's real message. His mission is to inspire and exalt the thought of the people and to bring their conduct into conformity with Truth.
May 28, 1950: Micah 4:1-5
What is meant by the "mountain of Jehovah's house"? The "mountain" represents the brain, through which intelligence functions. "Jehovah's house" represents the body.
How will the brain be "established on the top of the mountains"? Through mankind's growing realization of spiritual unity with God. The intellect, lacking spiritual guidance, is dominated by blind impulse or passion. However the time is to come when the intellect will be wholly spiritualized ("established on the top of the mountains"). Then men will abide in the consciousness of pure divine love ("be exalted above the hills”).
Will a time come when nations will be governed by an unselfish consideration of the interests of other nations instead of by narrow nationalistic interests? Yes. "Many nations shall go and say, Come ye, and let us go up to the mountain of Jehovah, and to the house of the God of Jacob; and he will teach us of his ways, and we will walk in his paths.”
What is meant by "the word of Jehovah from Jerusalem"? Jerusalem means "habitation of peace." "The word of Jehovah" means the divine law, or Truth. Peace under divine guidance is the ideal state of all mankind as out pictured by the divine law.
To what will the realization of universal peace be due? To the awakening of the race to the truth of the diving nature within its members and to the faithful work of the members in developing it.
When the desire for war is banished from the consciousness of the race, what will be the outcome? Fear will disappear also, and peace of mind will take its place. “None shall make them afraid.”
