Metaphysical meaning of Mithredath (mbd)

Metaphysical meaning of Mithredath (mbd)
Mithredath, mith'-re-dath (Heb.)--given by Mithra; gift of the sun god; mandate of Mithra; instructed in the laws; beholding the laws.

a Treasurer of Cyrus, king of Persia (Ezra 1:8). b A man who wrote to the king of Persia in an attempt to keep the Israelites from rebuilding the wall of Jerusalem (Ezra 4:7).

Meta. Light, understanding, but more on the psychical than on the spiritual plane, because of one's beholding the laws, the secondary step in understanding as it comes forth into expression and manifestation, instead of keeping the attention fixed on the Source (given by Mithra, gift of the sun god, mandate of Mithra). Thus this understanding becomes mixed with fears and limitations, with outer reasonings according to appearances; so while the good in it is sometimes a help, its errors are at other times a hindrance to the establishing of Truth in consciousness and body. (One man named Mithredath was the treasurer of Cyrus, king of Persia, through whom Cyrus returned to the Jews the vessels of the house of Jehovah, while the other man by this name was an enemy to the Jews.)
