Metaphysical meaning of Caiaphas (mbd)

Metaphysical meaning of Caiaphas (mbd)
Caiaphas, ca'-ja-phas (Gk. from Heb.) --hollowed out; a depression.

High priest of the Jews during a period that included the ministry and crucifixion of Jesus (John 11:49). He was the son-in-law of Annas (John 18:13).

Meta. The significance of Caiaphas is much the same as that of Annas (see ANNAS). He represents a ruling religious thought force that is entirely intellectual. He belongs to the religious world of forms and ceremonies, the "letter" of the word, and has no conception of the inner mind of Spirit.
