Hi Friends – I spend far more time answering questions than research and writing. So this "blog post" is really a "Question and Answer" post. The TruthUnity homepage will display recent replies to questions in the upper right corner. I hope sharing them will be helpful to others.
Mark, Would you say that this is a correct description of Fillmor's Unity teaching? “Charles Fillmore’s teachings represent a spiritual and metaphysical philosophy based on practical Christianity.” – Houston, Texas
Charles Fillmore's teachings are much more than a philosophy. Unity has a philosophical basis that is distinct from Evangelical Christianity (and which is much more aligned with Judaism) but Evangelical Christianity, Metaphysical Christianity, and Judaism are religions, not philosophies. Philosophy is a mental framework for understanding our world, religion is much more. The problem with saying Unity is a philosophy is that it is then limited to a mental construct. A movie is a mental construct, as is a book of fiction. Unity is filled with people who are trying out many different mental frameworks, one after another, to find what seems to work. That is an exploration for what they perceive a "truth". But religion is something we truly trust, what we will stake our life on. – Mark
