Hebrew Blessings: Torah Stories That Speak To Us

Hebrew Blessings:
Torah Stories That Speak To Us

Join us on Zoom for a year-long journey through the Torah, beginning October 6. Each week for one year, we will explore one of the 52 weekly Torah portions (parsha), following the Torah reading cycle from beginning to end. We’ll begin by watching a short video from AlephBeta.org related to that week’s Torah portion, then open the conversation to the insights, questions, and personal meanings the story awakens in us.

The Metaphysical Bible Dictionary associates the word Hebrew with “passing over”—with Abraham crossing into a new land and, metaphysically, with our own movement beyond familiar ways of thinking toward a deeper relationship with God and spiritual understanding. In that spirit, we’ll return each week to a simple question: What might this ancient story be inviting us to cross over from—and what might it be inviting us to cross over into?

No knowledge of Hebrew or previous Torah study is necessary, and you are welcome to join us at any point during the year. This is a conversation, not a lecture. Bring your curiosity, your life experience, and your willingness to listen to the text—and to one another—as we discover how these ancient stories might speak to us today.

Weekly beginning October 6
Facilitators: Nancy Cherry and Mark Hicks
