A city of Reuben, east of the Jordan (Josh. 13:19).

Meta. The wonderful illumination and glory, the spiritual uplift, the ecstasy, that so often accompany the inflow of new spiritual understanding, or light, into the consciousness of man after a period of trial or seeming darkness. (Zereth–shahar means breaking forth of light, aurora's splendor, brilliance of the dawn, brightness of the morning, and was a city of Reuben, east of the Jordan.
