Suph (A. V., the Red Sea), suph (Heb. fr. Egypt.)--rush; reed; sedge; seaweed; bulrush; sword grass; (I am--Suph) sea of weeds; Red Sea.
A part (the Gulf of Arabia, because it abounds in seaweed), if not all, of the Red Sea (Deut. 1:1).

Seaweed here gives the idea of obstruction of the pure life flow in the organism of man because of material thoughts, weeds, tares.
