a Son of Hanani, a prophet. He was sent to Baasha king of Israel to tell him what would be the result of his sins (I Kings 16:1). He was also sent to reprove Jehoshaphat king of Judah for helping the wicked king of Israel in his war with the Assyrians (II Chron. 19:2 see II Chron. 20:34 also). b The son of Jehoshaphat the son of Nimshi. This Jehu was the one whom Elisha anointed king of Israel in place of Joram son of Ahab; Jehu destroyed the whole house of Ahab (II Kings 9:2 to 10:36). c There were other Israelites by the name of Jehu (I Chron. 2:38; 4:35; 12:3).
Jehu, "son of Nimshi" (I Kings 19:16), or grandson of Nimshi according to II Kings 9:2, signifies that error rule is to be put away and spiritual thoughts are to be affirmed and restored to supremacy through the consciousness of I AM Jehovah, eternally existing in us as our foundation Truth and overcoming power (Jehovah is He, the life of life is He, the self-existent One is He).
