Metaphysical meaning of Taanach (mbd)
Taanach (in A. V., Joshua 21:25, Tanach), ta'-a-nach (Heb.)--deep; hard to pass; sandy soil; sandy; battlement; shut up; a gate.

A city of the Canaanites (Josh. 12:21). It was allotted to the Israelitish tribe of Manasseh (Judg. 1:27).

Meta. The seemingly deep and strong establishment of error in the life forces (deep, hard to pass, battlement, shut up; a city of the Canaanites, the Canaanites representing the elemental life forces of man, under sense dominion).

"In Taanach by the waters of Megiddo" Sisera was overthrown and the river Kishon swept away his hosts, according to Judges 5:19-21. The "waters of Megiddo" signify a place of cleansing, a great washing away of error by denial. (See MEGIDDO.) Thus the unreality of error is revealed and is put away (sandy, sandy soil). "And every one that heareth these words of mine, and doeth them not, shall be likened unto a foolish man, who built his house upon the sand," said Jesus. Such a house is sure to fall in times of proving, because it is not built on a rock. All error is unreal and will pass away ultimately, since it is not of Spirit.
