Who is Sharon Poindexter?
Hi Friends –Sometimes people ask me to recommend a resource for some particular class they are teaching. I point them to the many clips in Unity's On Wings of Truth. Quite often they come back to me, asking “Who is Sharon Poindexter?” If you don't know about Sharon Poindexter, let me introduce one of Unity's most powerful teachers.
Sharon Poindexter is a Unity minister who was ordained in 1988 (top row, 7th from the left). She served as Spiritual Director of PATH Ministries, a “church without walls” from which she conducted a healing outreach ministry. Sharon made her transition in May 1995.
Sharon had many gifts, but her eloquence places her along with Eric Butterworth and James Dillet Freeman in Unity's class of best speakers. As you will see and hear, her presence is captivating. When she talks, she is calm, authentic and present. This quality comes out in two resources.
First, she is one of the featured speakers in Unity’s On Wings of Truth. On Wings of Truth is a sixteen segment video featuring the cream of Unity’s spiritual leadership: Dorothy Pierson, Eric Butterworth, James Dillet Freeman, Charles R and Connie Fillmore, John Strickland, Jim Rosemergy and ... Sharon Poindexter. Why she was included in this pantheon of Unity at the start of her career is obvious to anyone who watches these video clips. Click on the video to hear Sharon talk about health, the law of mind-action, affirmation and denial, prayer and meditation, the importance of gratitude, prosperity, right livelihood, giving and receiving, loving relationships and marriage.
Second is the audio tapes she created called A Five Tape Series on healing. Sharon produced these tapes as she was living with cancer. As the album back cover says, “For those around her, she modeled how productive and full life can be with the strength of faith, trust, grace and love in meeting her painful challenges.” The cover continues, “While recording ‘Meditating for Health’ she was in the hospital struggling to be centered for several minutes in the midst of her pain until she delivered the meditation flawlessly... the background sounds in ‘Discovering the Divine Plan For Your Life’ were recorded as Sharon walked through the garden in her beautiful backyard. She treasured the beautiful simplicity of nature and sought its divine balance in all aspects of her life.”
Sharon's family has told me that “Sharon would want these tapes shared with the world community.” So they have graciously blessed placing them here on TruthUnity, today, Sharon's birthday, February 21, 2021. Thank you family, and Happy Birthday, Sharon!
Cynthia Alice Anderson was a good friend of Sharon. Sharon’s long-time and special friends Rev. Eileen Douglas and Rev. Dr. Richard Talley are carrying on her ministry at PATH Ministries (People Accepting Their Holiness). If you knew Sharon and would like to honor her, then consider posting a comment to this page or to email me at firstname.lastname@example.org. I will add your comment here.

Sharon Poindexter Tribute
Rev. Sharon Poindexter had an insight that allowed her to touch the people with whom she came into contact. Sharon was able to bring people into Path Ministries who had somehow lost their way. The Holy Spirit worked through Sharon allowing her to be minister, friend, mentor, confidant, but most of all a caring and loving individual to everyone. Sharon we honor your legacy as we continue to say “YES to life.”
