What Charles Fillmore Said About God Is Spirit
§7 We believe that “God is Spirit,” as Jesus taught, and that all of His Spirit is with us at all times, supplying every need.
Meditation in the Silence
1. Choose a time and a place where you will be alone and undisturbed for at least 20 minutes.
2. Assume a comfortable position so that there is no feeling of tension or strain in your body.
3. If sitting, place both feet fiat upon the floor. Put your hands comfortably in your lap with either both palms up to receive blessings, or with the left palm up and the right down to receive and give a blessing.
4. Close your eyes, be still, and relax.
3. Focus your attention upon your head and begin to relax the muscles in your scalp, face, and neck. Say softly or silently:
In the name of Jesus Christ relax, relax, relax. Peace, be still; wait upon the Lord only.
6. When you are ready, move your attention to trunk, arms and legs and repeat:
In the name of Jesus Christ relax, relax, relax. Peace, be still; wait upon the Lord only.
7. Now bring your attention to the throat and the power center where the creative Word is forming to give life, substance, and intelligence to your declared word of faith. Affirm sofdy and then several times silently:
The Spirit of God provides abundant life, love, substance, and intelligence in my life and affairs.
8. Rest in the silence letdng the affirmation reveal its Truth to you.
9. When you are ready, return your awareness first to your physical body, and then to your surroundings as you re-enter your world.

If I ask you to think of a horse, one might think of a large horse, another a small one. One might think of a black one and another think of white. Each person asked would see a picture of a horse in his mind though each might have a different picture. There is a word I could use which would cause everyone to have a similar picture appear in his mind. “Spirited.” Immediately the horse in your mind is animated, alive, active, moving. The opening of the book of Genesis says, “The earth was without form and void and darkness was upon the face of the deep; and the Spirit of God was moving over the face of the waters.” (Genesis 1:2) God, Spirit-Mind, acted; It moved.
Electricity is a dynamic thing that, like Spirit, is invisible and also moves. Come in contact with it and you can experience a mighty shock. The Spirit of God is infinitely more dynamic. It could reduce us to atomic particles if we could touch the fullness of God’s Spirit, Fortunately, it is stepped-down through the transforming power of the Christ to a level we can receive. Charles Fillmore said, “It is something that is constandy giving life, constandy restoring, inbreathing into its form this great breath of life, (from a talk given April 20,1923). The English word Spirit comes from the Latin, spiritus, which means “breath.”
God as Spirit is the unseen, everywhere present “breath of the almighty.” It is the cause of all life, substance, and intelligence. It is also omnipresent—it is equally present at all points in time and space. No matter where we are or what appears before us—regardless of whatever seems to be making its presence known—all the life, substance, and intelligence of God are there to meet any need. In this way, God as Spirit is also the source of all supply. Charles Fillmore wrote in the introduction to his book, Prosperity (page 3), “It is perfectly logical to assume that a wise and competent Creator would provide for the needs of his creatures in their various stages of growth... The Father has provided a universal seed substance that responds with magical power to the active mind of man...” It would not be an intelligent act of an omnipotent Creator to place his children in an environment where they had desires but no means for fulfillment of those desires, and where they had needs that could not be met. In the early years of Unity the Fillmores proved the principle of God as their supply by building their work on this foundation. It prospered Unity for almost one-hundred years.
The following quotation is from Test Questions, Unity' Correspondence School course material:
Unity firmly believes that if we trust God and give good service, all needs will be met abundandy and it will not be necessary to have to ask for money or to make charges for a spiritual service or to charge high prices for the literature... The true source of our supply and prosperity is God, and if we look away from God to a personality for recompense we turn away from God...and also place man in bondage by looking to him for pay... The enure Unity work has always been based on the just and equitable law, “Give, and it shall be given unto you.” (Luke 6:38)
God prospers us when we give the best that is in us and do all things unto Him, acknowledging Him in all our affairs. This is a sure way to success, and when success does come we should realise that it resulted from the work of Spirit in us, because we made ourselves channels through which the Christ Mind could bring its ideas into manifestation.

Spiritual Truth, psychology, and science tell us that visible things come from the invisible and are dependent upon the unseen for their existence. The sense mind cannot conceive of this.

Spirit is a vigorous stimulant. It uplifts the whole consciousness, vitalises the organs, and gives us courage and endurance. It also tends to make one supersensitive.
