Metaphysical meaning of Shobek (mbd)
Shobek, sho'-bek (Heb.)--freeing; leaving; forsaking; left; forsaken.
Meta. The renunciation (leaving, forsaking) of lesser, limited ideas and conditions that always accompanies a determination to adhere more closely to the divine law, to serve and obey God more perfectly (Shobek joined Nehemiah in sealing the covenant). By letting go the lesser thoughts and beliefs of the outer personal man and laying hold of the greater, or divine ideals, one becomes truly free (freeing).
