Metaphysical meaning of Eliphelet (mbd)
Eliphelet (in A.V., II Sam. 5:16, Eliphalet), e-l`iph'-e-let (Heb.)--God is deliverance; God is escape; God of deliverance.
a A son of David (II Sam. 5:16). b One of David's guard (II Sam. 23:34). c Other Israelitish men (I Chron. 3:6; 8:39; Ezra 8:13; 10:33).
Meta. Deliverance from error and its results--salvation--is from God; it is accomplished by the power of Spirit. It is not by personal might or power that we are enabled to obtain the good that is our divine birthright, "but by my Spirit, saith Jehovah of hosts" (Zech. 4:6).
