Shifting from Struggle to Flow

Hello Truth Unity Friends!
My name is Michele Timmons. I am a member of Unity of Columbus (Ohio), a certified Spiritual Director/Companion, and I am currently on the path to becoming a Unity minister through Unity Urban Ministerial School. Let me share with my vision and why I am pursuing ministry. I would love to get your feedback.
I have been speaking and providing workshops for Unity of Columbus for several years on topics surrounding manifestation and prosperity. This spring, I began expanding my horizons by offering independent workshops under my personal practice, P.U.G. Spiritual Companionship. My work is not about advice-giving or “fixing.” Instead, it is Passionate, Understanding, and Grace-filled (P.U.G.) companionship. It is a practice of “holy listening”, creating a quiet space where you can recognize the divine goodness already within you and hear the guidance of your own soul.
My newest endeavor is supporting individuals who are struggling with healing, whether it be emotional, physical, or spiritual. Have you ever felt like you are working incredibly hard to be well? We buy the books, try the supplements, and diligently study spiritual principles, yet we often end up feeling more exhausted and fractured than when we started.
This past Tuesday, a beautiful group of seekers gathered virtually as we began The Spirituality of Wellness, a 6-week journey of healing, peace, and grace, based on the Unity booklet, The Power of Faith to Heal This booklet contains a message from Rev. Kathy Beasley, which I’ll refer to below.
In this first session, we realized something profound: true wellness isn’t a destination we have to fight to reach. It is an inner state of wholeness that we allow ourselves to step into. We began by leaning into our hurt, giving it a name or emotion. Then we looked to the future to create a vision for how we want to feel, what we want to experience in the future, when this hurt is no longer running our lives.
As we read Rev. Kathy Beasley’s article in the Unity booklet, How Does Faith Make Us Well? We discovered this inner state of wholeness often needs to begin by releasing control and striving to live in openness. Faith is not just a comfort; it offers us a pathway to wellness that is so much greater than physical healing.
Rev. Ellen Debenport’s passage on Affirmative Healing Prayer offered us a new tool to look at our situations and ‘pray from the other side’. What does our hurt, fear, or diagnosis look and feel like if we rewrite it from a new perspective where all is well, and our well-being is assured, and then thank the universe in advance? WOW! This was a game-changer for us all. Here is what a couple of our participants shared after this week’s session:
“The session was organized and inclusive. I honestly believe the universe has sent this for the next phase of my healing and moving forward with positivity.”
“I am realizing how difficult it is for me to live with uncertainty. My hope in this space is to find peace with that uncertainty, and find the serenity I have been longing for.”
If your heart resonates with those words, you are welcome to join with us. This is a safe, Passionate, Understanding, and Grace-Filled environment where we meet you exactly where you are. Registration is still open, and Week 2 is the perfect place to step into the flow. You will join a collaborative, practice-based lab where we actively apply spiritual tools to our physical and emotional lives, bringing faith, healing, grace, and peace.
In our next session on Tuesday, July 21st, we are tackling the exhaustion of struggle. Inspired by the teachings of Unity minister Eric Butterworth and Rev. Bronte Colbert, we will explore what it means to stop frantically trying to “fix” ourselves. We will learn the art of spiritual floating, dropping our oars, releasing the need to control everything, and trusting the constant, divine stream of life that is already vitalizing our bodies.
You do not need to catch up or have attended Week 1 to fully participate. You only need an open heart and a desire for peace. We meet the next five Tuesdays, at 7:00-8:00 PM EDT, concluding August 18. We meet by Zoom, the suggested love offering is $25 per session, and you can email me at pugspiritual@gmail.com to register and get the Zoom link.
Regardless if you join with us or not, be sure to download your free copy of the Unity booklet, The Power of Faith to Heal, so you can follow along with our readings.
I can’t wait to see you!
–Michele
