Metaphysical meaning of Bel (mbd)
Bel, bel (Heb.)--lord.

The Aramaic form of Baal (Isa. 46.1). Bel is mentioned in connection with Babylon, and refers to the Babylonish god (Jer. 50:2; 51:44). It is not certain whether it was the planet Jupiter or the sun that was worshiped under the name of Bel. Bel, however, is virtually the same name as Baal.
