Metaphysical meaning of Nahash (mbd)
Nahash, na'-hash (Heb.)--hissing; whispering; insidious passion; muttering; witchcraft; incantation; enchantment; augury; omen; divination; prognostication; prophet; seer; oracle; a serpent; witch; charmer; brazen.

a King of the Ammonites, who came up against Jabesh-gilead and was smitten by Israel under Saul's leadership (I Sam. 11:1; II Sam. 10:2). b The name of a parent of Abigal, sister of Zeruiah (II Sam. 17:25). This latter Nahash must have been the mother of Abigal and Zeruiah, since they were sisters to David, and Jesse was the name of David's father (see I Chron. 2:12-16).

Meta. Nahash, king of the Ammonites, represents a phase of sense wisdom (serpent, "Now the serpent was more subtle than any beast of the field which Jehovah God had made") and discernment (oracle) that exists in the Ammonite consciousness in the individual (see AMMONITES) and rules in this consciousness at a certain stage of his development.

Nahash, a parent of Abigal, supposedly her mother, denotes soul intuition and wisdom, that are not at this time fully redeemed from the sense or carnal realm of thought.
