Metaphysically Interpreting Psalms 92:1-15
A Psalm, a Song for the sabbath day.
92:1It is a good thing to give thanks unto Jehovah,
And to sing praises unto thy name, O Most High;
92:2To show forth thy lovingkindness in the morning,
And thy faithfulness every night,
92:3With an instrument of ten strings, and with the psaltery;
With a solemn sound upon the harp.
92:4For thou, Jehovah, hast made me glad through thy work:
I will triumph in the works of thy hands.92:5How great are thy works, O Jehovah!
Thy thoughts are very deep.
92:6A brutish man knoweth not;
Neither doth a fool understand this:
92:7When the wicked spring as the grass,
And when all the workers of iniquity do flourish;
It is that they shall be destroyed for ever.
92:8But thou, O Jehovah, art on high for evermore.
92:9For, lo, thine enemies, O Jehovah,
For, lo, thine enemies shall perish;
All the workers of iniquity shall be scattered.92:10But my horn hast thou exalted like the horn of the wild-ox:
I am anointed with fresh oil.
92:11Mine eye also hath seen my desire on mine enemies,
Mine ears have heard my desire of the evil-doers that rise up against me.92:12The righteous shall flourish like the palm-tree:
He shall grow like a cedar in Lebanon.
92:13They are planted in the house of Jehovah;
They shall flourish in the courts of our God.
92:14They shall still bring forth fruit in old age;
They shall be full of sap and green:
92:15To show that Jehovah is upright;
He is my rock, and there is no unrighteousness in him.

Why is it “a good thing to give thanks unto Jehovah”? Because giving thanks is a constructive act, and as such it makes us aware of our blessings and advantages. Gratitude and negative criticism cannot co-exist in the same heart.
Does the singing of praises to God have a more constructive influence upon us than silent gratitude? Yes. The singing of praises relieves the heart of its burden and lifts up the consciousness to a state of exalted feeling never produced by silent gratitude to God.
Why are we to acknowledge God's loving-kindness in the morning and His faithfulness every night? Because the thought of divine loving-kindness as pervading all inspires us to go forth during the day with the will to do good and make it a reality within our sphere of influence. At night we rest in peace knowing that divine love and power watches over us faithfully.
How can we triumph in the works of God's hands? By rejoicing in the knowledge that He is Lord of all; that in Him we live, move and have our being; that He guides us continually with His divine love and wisdom; that He does His mighty acts in and through us; that through Him we are more than conquerors.
Are the thoughts of God too deep for us to fathom? In their entirety they are, because we have not yet reached spiritual maturity. However as we acknowledge divine wisdom as active in us and seek Truth with confidence and expectation, our capacity for thinking and perceiving it expands and our thoughts come into closer accord with universal Truth.
