Metaphysical meaning of Zephathah (mbd)
Zephathah, zeph'–a–thah (Heb.)--place of the watchtower; high watch; beholding; awaiting; attending.

At Mareshah (in the Valley of Zephathah) Asa, king of Judah, met Zerah the Ethiopian in battle, and the Ethiopians were defeated and put to rout (II Chron. 14 :10).

Meta. Spiritual watch being kept in the lower or more subconscious phase of thought in the individual (place of the watchtower, high watch, a valley in the lowlands of Judah; see MARESHAH and ZERAH).

The Ethiopians here are the undisciplined and undeveloped thought forces in the subconscious mind. They are destructive. Zerah, as a leader of the Ethiopian army that came up against Judah, signifies the result of the first shining of new light into this darkened (Ethiopian) phase of thought, which result is that these ignorant and destructive thoughts are stirred to greater activity and so must be met and dealt with by Asa, king of Judah. Asa means physician, healing, curing, and represents the will directing constructively. Thus dark and destructive tendencies are put away and the light of Truth shines in one's consciousness.
