Metaphysical meaning of Kishon (mbd)
Kishon, ki'-shon (Heb.)--curved; winding; bent; crooked; hard; difficult; laborious.
A river in Palestine, next in importance to the Jordan. It was at this river that the Israelites defeated Sisera, captain of the army of Jabin (Judg. 4:7, 13; 5:21). Elijah slew the prophets of Baal by "the brook Kishon" (I Kings 18:40).
Meta. The prophets of Baal that Elijah slew at "the brook Kishon" represent the many external impulses that sway the soul dominated by nature's elements. To cut off these emotions that have been counted so dear and have been treasured in song and prose is indeed an exceedingly hard process for some people; it is very winding and laborious to some, also.
