Metaphysical meaning of Jephunneh (mbd)
Jephunneh, je-phun'-neh (Heb.)--which will be before his face; appearing; which holds attention; favorable-appearing; he will behold.

a Father of Caleb, of the tribe of Judah (Num. 13:6). b Son of Jether, of the "children" of Asher (I Chron. 7:38, 40).

Meta. A thought in the Israelitish, or real, true, higher consciousness in man that, by attentively looking into (he will behold, which holds attention) the divine law and regarding it with favor, by seeking to promote the keeping of it (which will be before his face, favorable-appearing), brings to light in the consciousness spiritual faith and enthusiasm (Caleb, son of Jephunneh). Joyous life, praise, and prayer (Judah and Asher) do much to bring about the understanding of the law, as well as enthusiasm and faith in the possibility of keeping it, to the entire lifting up and spiritualizing of the whole organism (Caleb was one of the two spies who were sure that the Israelites were able to go in and possess the land).
