An attentive, vigilant attitude, but more from a standpoint of looking on from the outside than laying hold of and becoming one with that which is perceived (watchers, watchmen, viewers, lookers from afar; a field at the top of Pisgah, where Balak, king of Moab, took Balaam to try to induce him to curse Israel).
