Metaphysical meaning of thieves (mbd)

Metaphysical meaning of thieves (mbd)
thieves, two, crucified with Jesus (Matt. 27:38, "robbers").

Meta. The two thieves who were crucified with Jesus represent the human belief in duality, good and evil, past and future. "Jesus in the midst" represents the steady poise of the I AM. The past is full of regrets and accusations, but the future is hopeful and sees good ahead in spite of the great trial at hand. Jesus tells one--the good, the future--that he shall be with Him in Paradise; but the evil, the dead past, dies cursing. This is to show that after the carnal has thoroughly given up there is no further necessity for an opposite; it is lost in its own nothingness or negation. (See ROBBERS.)
