Sleep Keeps Us Anchored to Spirit

By Bernard Dozier

Sleep is sweet oblivion. Sleep is soul refreshment. It’s in the soft embrace of Sleep that we are closest to the wellsprings of Spirit.

As sleep closes the eyes of Logic, Imagination assumes the Throne of Consciousness. So, everything we behold in dreams seems both old and new—and perhaps spectacular—strange and mysterious, grand, other- worldly, and fantastic.

Sleep hushes our voice and soothes our limbs. In sleep, our touch is that of great yearning, and our speech is vivid images cast upon desire and emotion.

Sleep is our special SELF time, a solitary journey. Sometimes it is a dread darkness, sometimes a restless one, but ever eventful. Along our way we look past who we are and waltz again through star fields to the music of what we are. The strains of unwritten melodies refresh and invigorate us.

Sleep is our holy respite. Our sleeping souls slip free of worrisome bonds and burdens. We ease into untimed and timeless hours of buoyant Being and freely dabble in the potential of divine possibilities.

In sleep our youth never ages. Sleep is a daily reminder that we are Spirit-formed, Spirit-sustained souls.

The material realm may be our tabernacle for two-thirds of our day, but sleep reminds us that the Invisible is our home—a blissful place of oneness—oneness with Something Good, with SomeOne Good....oneness with Everyone and Everything good.

In our blessed nights of sleep, we are the dreamers of immortal dreams, who wake as mortals to be realizers of heavenly realities.
