Metaphysical meaning of Magpiash (mbd)
Magpiash, mag'-pi-ash (Heb.)--collector of a star cluster; driven together in a cluster; plague of moths; moth-killer.

One who joined Nehemiah in sealing the covenant (Neh. 10:20).

Meta. Stars signify truths that are as yet very dimly apprehended. Magpiash (collector of a star cluster, driven together in a cluster, moth-killer), a priest or chief of the Israelitish people, who joined Nehemiah in sealing the covenant, pertains to an innate Truth ideal in consciousness that grasps and attempts to unify itself with higher light than it can immediately assimilate. In the power that it gains through this light, however, the consciousness becomes more unified with Spirit by putting away the error thoughts that are destructive to man's actual living of the measure of Truth that he knows.

It is necessary that man should think, speak, and act according to his highest concepts of Truth; by doing this he weaves for himself a robe of righteousness--becomes clothed with light as with a garment. Moths eat garments, and so, by being a destroyer of those error, limited thought activities in the consciousness that tend to keep one from living in conformance with Truth, this high ideal that Magpiash represents can be said to be a moth-killer.
