What I am offering
If your Unity church, center or study group needs a website, send an email to me at mark@truthunity.net. I do not intend to charge anything. My goal is to get the 100+ Unity churches that currently have no website back on the web.
In your email, I need a bunch of information, which I will list in the Email Checklist subsection below. Explanations about this information are given in the other subsections. Many of the items are optional, so you can get launched with a bare bones site (but I don't recommend it).
Philosophy of the website
The Unitywings model intends for you to own as much of your data as possible. You'll see that your pictures get uploaded to your Picasa account, your calendar entries go on your Google calendar, your videos on your Youtube account, your tweets and voice clips are posted to your accounts on Twitter and Utterli and, if you wish, your mailing list is on your own Mailchimp account.
Why is this? For three reasons:
- These Internet services are better than anything I can provide. They are the best. You work with them to load your content and I will bring them together in an attractive website
- Most important, you need to own your own data. By placing your pictures, videos, calendar entries, etc on your own accounts, you never have to worry about my site "locking you in."
- Placing your content on external resources lets this site be as maintenance free as possible. I am doing everything I can to make this a no-charge service.
This website has the following features
In the front and center of your home page is a list of the latest things you want your visitors to see.
Across the top are tabs for:
- Who We Are (church background, mission/vision statement)
- Our Members (an optional on-line directory)
- Meet Our Minister (an optional page to introduce your minister or spiritual leader)
- Calendar (to show church events in a calendar format)
- Contact Us (a page for people to send you an email, such as a prayer request)
Just below the tabs are a series of graphical boxes that link to information coming from Unity School and The Association of Unity Churches. Relying on the school and the association, your visitors can ask for prayer, get learning resources, listen to Unity.fm, etc.
Along the left column is:
- A block to show when and where you have services and a link to Find A Unity Church, showing where your church is located
- An optional block for people to sign up for email messages to keep up with your church news
- An optional block to listen to short audio clips, such as a "message of the day" or a "welcome to our church"
- An optional block that displays your latest Twitter postings (tweets) ... you may be confused, but the kids aren't.
- A listing of the latest entries on your front page.
